
The huge cloud has caused more air traffic similar to the problems after 911. Passengers are awaiting news that their planes will be taking off, hoping to be returning home or going to their destinations soon.
There is concern that air traffic will be disrupted for yet another few days to allow the skies to become safe again.
In London, usually one of the busiest airports in the world having most the time over 1200 flights containing 180,000 passengers per day, canceled all fights.
Approximately 700 people had to be relocated that live near the volcano. There was fear of high water and floating icebergs. There is also a fear that roads are being damaged and as are other structures.
The ash in the cloud is at anywhere from 20,000 to 36,000 feet in the air. If an airplane tried flying through it, the ash could get sucked into the engines, clogging them and causing them to shut down.
Many plans have been changed or are being affected by the eruption and the canceled flights.
