What should have been a peaceful Friday prayer had instead turned into a scene of bloodshed, with 30 people being killed in a suicide bombing. There were two different illustrations of the attack. Police officials commented that a suicide bomber had detonated the explosives which resulted in the explosion, in contrary, some witnesses said that the explosives were already planted in the mosque.

The attack took place in the northwestern region frequented with clashes between the Pakistani army and Taleban militants. With Pakistani army continues to pursue the militants, driving them out from their territories, it is expected that the latter would resolve to attacks that could make their presence felt.

The recent Kirkuk blast in Baghdad was targeted at a group of former militias of al-Qaeda, who allied themselves with the US government forces. Calling themselves the Awakening Councils, the group was attacked by suicide bombing when they had gathered to receive their pay. According to investigation, the bomber disguised himself as one of the council’s member, who later detonated the explosives.

Suicide bombings have been rampant in the area, taking away lives of many. A total of 23 people, including three US soldiers, had been killed in Baghdad due to suicide bombings. Civilians in the capital are feeling a sense of insecurity, believing that such bombings could be worse when US forces withdraw from Iraq in the coming June.

Having created much turmoil to the overall peace in Pakistan, the Taleban is determined to destroy whatever that stands in their way. The Taleban has long been known to be crude in their demands, citing many instances whereby they resolved to suicide bombings.

Yet, another suicide bomb attack has taken place in the town of Khyber agency, which involved a local mosque. Many have been injured by the blast, while rescuers are still in the verge of confirming the total death toll. Initial reports have put the number of death at three.

Pakistani government is putting in every effort to secure the Khyber region from falling into hands to the Taleban. Security measures are expected to be tighten in the near future to prevent such attack from repeating.

Sri lanka suicide bombing claimed lives of 14

The battle between the Sri Lankan army and the Tamil Tigers has been known to have stretched for decades. Local civilians are often the victims when clashes arise between the two parties. A suicde bombing thought to have been carried out by the Tigers in the capital of Colombo, claimed the live of 14 amids a festive celebration in a mosque.

Sri lanka government has expressed condemnation against such attack, urging local community to remain calm.

Though Tamil Tigers have yet to comment on the attack, it is widely believed that the blast was targeting government officials who were there to celebrate the festival.
