Unskilled circumcision killed 31 boys in South Africa

Thirty-one teenage boys have died from ramifications after bungled conventional circumcision rituals in South Africa’s farming Eastern Cape area, officials said.

“As the beginning of June, two deaths are being showed almost daily,” territorial health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said.

“This is a dark site that we deal out with every year, the health department gives saved hundreds of boys from schools campaign by crooked surgeons,” he said.

Health agencies allege the principal killers which have been centralized in the rural Transkei area are desiccation, hypothermia and overweening bleeding and that most boys only attempt health check aid once they are too late.

Conventional circumcision is a ritual of enactment skilled by the part Xhosa clan, where male child from the age of 18 are banned to the scrub for about a month and instructed social measures.

The semiannual case climaxes in a circumcision rite which is executed with no anesthetic, practising conventional surgical instruments.

Mr Kupelo stated the amount of deaths had been easy going down across the past five years as the wellness agencies began cracking down on illegal schools.

Scattering around South Africa are a large amount of gold mines, attracting many illegal miners who are looking for a quick profit. Many are attracted to such huge profits that they could generate from mining in disused gold mines. Though gold mines are guarded against unauthorised entry, many have been able to sneak through without being caught.

In one recent case, twenty five people were killed after sneaking into a disused gold mine that caught fire. The bodies of these illegal miners were not burnt, stating the fact that they could have been killed from gas inhalation. Local authority responded that such illegal mining activities are rampant around the area., with nearly 300 illegal miners being caught in a recent raid.

With the possible huge profit that an individual could stand to gain, many are expected to turn to illegal mining if better measures are not implemented to counter such activities.

Fierce storm in South Africa kills eight people

KwaZulu-Natal experienced one of the fiercest storms which claimed lives of eight people.
The storm has destroyed a lot of homes leaving houses with no roofs. Number of lightning strikes was reported, due to which atleast four members lost their lives.
Reports suggest that atleast 2000 households were affected across the cities of Ndwendwe, Pietermaritzburg and Dalton.
In these cities authorities have stepped up and initiated programs of setting up tents for homeless people and providing food etc.
The places have been experiencing a series of storms in the past few months. But this one has been a combination of devastation and terror.
active cold fronts associated with low pressure systems can sometimes give rise to intense thunderstorms that occur during the day or night and cause a lot of damage. The storm in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend was one such event.

A South African delegation team to visit Cholera hit Zimbabwe

A South African delegation is reported to visit the Cholera hit Zimbabwe this week.
The country is already providing medical aids and supplies to help the victims attacked by cholera.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there have been more than 14000 cases of cholera that have been reported till date.

8 people have been reported dead in the town of Musina, which is located across the border of South Africa.
Now Musina has also become a Cholera aid center, with no sufficient food and water for the cholera hit victims.

President Robert Mugabe’s inefficiency of taking care of the situation in his country has been deeply condemned by the people.
The group – which includes former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan – said there was “bitter disappointment” with the current leadership.
The group also called on the Southern African Development Community to help contain the outbreak.

South Africa receives heavy rains, loss of life and property

Most parts of South Africa have been hit with heavy rains which have resulted in a lot of devastation and destruction.
Rain has been pouring through out the week resulting in flooding and land slides. More than 5 people have been reported dead until now.
Rains continue to show its course in the country; where hundred rather thousands of members are trying to save their lives by moving to a safer place.
Bloemfontein is one of the worst hit areas, where buildings have completed collapsed leaving a lot of people in despair.
The rains are expected to continue for atleast another 48 hours in the western, eastern and southern capes.
The Eden districts of the Western Cape are expected to receive more than 50mm (1.97 inches) of rain in the next 24 hours. The rescue team is on way securing bodies and providing food and shelter for people.
The heavy down pour is really making impossible for the rescue team to move free.
