Cholera Is A Threat in Nigeria

Getting medical helpSince June of this year, 350 or more people in Nigeria have died from Cholera.

There has been over 6400 people that have been sick and 352 others that have died.

Cholera becomes a threat when there is no good clean source of drinking water. The flooding after the heavy rainfall has help distribute the disease.

At this time, the occurrence of Cholera has been in the north west and northeastern parts of a Nigeria, the entire country is at risk.

There is 2/3rd’s of the Nigerian population that do not have clean drinking water. Even less then that, less then 40% of the population have any type of indoor plumbing for bath room facilities.

cholera affects the intestines. It will cause diarrhea and vomiting. These two together can cause very serious dehydration.

There are around 120,000 people that die every year from Cholera. It can kill with

in hours if no treatment is started.

It was reported armies with machine rifles patrolled the main roads of Jos in the rear of pickup lorries Wednesday, chasing days of priestly violence between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria that murdered more than 200 people.

Two charred bodies were visible at an army test point and a fresh corpse lay on the side of the street spearheading into Jos. A nearby mosque motionless smoldered, its spires blackened via fires.

Authorities have inflicted a 24-hour curfew in Jos, but citizens were perceived walking circle the core of the city. When an army convoy passed, they ceased and reared their hands above their chief to illustrate they were not a threat.

The violence originated on Sunday afterwards Muslim youths set a Catholic church ablaze. Witnesses said rioters armed with knives, homemade firearms and stones assailed passers-by and brawled with safety coerces, retiring bodies in the road and piled in regional mosques.

Human Rights Watch said on Tuesday that more than 200 citizens have been murdered in the priestly violence. The team also paged on Nigeria’s federal to analyse and prosecute those responsible for the killings.

BAUCHI, Nigeria  – Fighting between Islamic militants and protection compels in northern Nigeria withdrew at least 35 population dead as sect constituents armed with spears and arrows ransacked a neighborhood and set homes ablaze, a police official said Tuesday.

The  chief  of the Islamist sect  found  clear  fault    for days of  hostility  in  north  Nigeria has been shot and  murdered  while in  police officer  custody,  representatives  said Thursday.
The police officer commander of Borno state advertised on state broadcasting that Mohammed Yusuf, the chief of the sect some call the Nigerian Taliban, has “died in police officer custody.”

He granted no farther elucidation, but the state governor’s spokesperson Usman Ciroma advised The Associated Press: “I observed his body at police officer headquarters. I trust he was shot while he was attempting to escape.”

Yusuf’s death could provoke more hostility, though his followers in the Boko Haram sect may be in disarray after forces bombarded his join concurrently in the north habitation of Maiduguri on Wednesday. Yusuf, 39, supervised to elude with about 300 followers, some of them armed. His deputy, Bukar Shekau, was murdered in the assault, as showed by Army commander Maj. Gen. Saleh Maina.

ABUJA, Nigeria  – An  assault  by Islamist militants on a  police officer   place  in  north  Nigeria Sunday has left dozens of  population  dead, a  police officer   spokesperson  said.

“A gathering of fundamentalists this early assailed a police officer place in Bauchi state,” Nigerian countrywide police officer spokesperson Emmanuel Ojukwu advised The Associated Press. “They were bearing arms with armaments, bows and missiles and explosives. There were some casualties but I not able to declare how more for now.”

Ojukwu would not give particulars of the disagree and said only that the number of dead was in the dozens. Bauchi state police officer spokesperson Mohammed Barau said most of the dead were Islamist fighters.

Ojukwu said police officer detained more than 100 warriors and that the circumstances in the state capital, where the assault happened, is now calm.

Bauchi state lies along a line separating Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim and pastoralist north inhabitants from southerly Christian and animist rural growers communities.

In a country of 140 million about separate between Muslims in the north and Christians and animists in the south, Bauchi is one of 12 north states where Islamic Shariah justice is practiced. Various gatherings have clashed before over its appropriate implementation.

Following Nigeria embarkation on the new exchange policy, officials commented that this might trigger a surge in robbery on local unofficial money-changers. Already, the police official has received their very first report on local robbery along a the vicinity where many money-changers are located.

Fierce exchange of gunshots between policemen and the robbers, caused several casualties. Two robbers were gun downed, however, six policemen fall victims as well. It is not known if the robbers have gotten away with any money. Investigation is still ongoing, while local government is expected to enhance local security in areas where local money-changers reside.

Population in Nigeria is equally distributed into two religious groups, namely the Muslims and Christians. Both communities have been living in harmony. However, the harmony started to strain in last November, whereby hundreds were killed in religious gang fight in northern Nigerian city of Bauchi.

Months after the fight, Red Cross officials reported another recent clashes that killed four people and wounded 28 others. Similarly, the conflicts took place in the city of Bauchi. The conflicts started off with an argument, which later turned violence. Many churches, mosques and house were set on fire.

The clashes came to a halt after Nigerian troops were sent in to control the situation. Security agencies have since been directed to deal with the perpetrators who have stirred the uproar.
