145 People Perished and 500 More Still Missing

In Leh, a flash flood went through the city on Friday. Leh is approximately 310 miles from Srinagar.

As of Sunday, the total of deaths as a result of the flooding and landslides was 145. That was as reported by the official Press Trust of India.

The people, searching for survivors, keep pushing on searching for any of the 500 still missing.

There was a huge amount of rain that fell last week which caused the landslides. They happened while people were still in their beds sleeping. Electrical lines were taken down, whole villages demolished, and cars were over turned.

The searchers hoping to find survivors are walking through mud that comes up to their knees in the city of Leh.

There are close to 6000 military personnel that have been sent to help out.

Helicopters are being brought in to try and reach areas that are not able to be driven to because of damaged roadways.

A train crashed into a standing train on Monday killing at least 60 people and wounding 92 more in the eastern parts of India.

The impact was so forced that it threw the top off one of the cars that were hit up onto the overpass.

People had to be cut out of the train with gas cutters. They are similar to blow torches. The Train cars were a tangles mess. They used huge cranes to pull the wriggled train parts from the tracks.

There has been some financial aid set up for people who died or were seriously injured in the crash.

They are looking into what caused the crash.

India has a poor record when it comes to train accidents. Most have been found to be due to mistakes make by humans.

Today, Saturday June 26th, at about 7:15am a fatal collision between a truck and a bus occurred in the eastern part of India.

The bus ran head on into the truck. Possibly more then 23 of the passengers perished in the accident that were on the bus. Another 25 of the passengers did get injured in the accident.

The bus driver, another one of the fatalities, is considered at fault for the accident.

“It’s a case of rash driving,” Neelmani, a state police spokesman said.

It is rather common for fatal accidents to occur in India. In 2008 close to 138,000 people died in accidents on the national highways.

On Friday, at about 1:30 in the morning in India, two railroad trains traveling parallel to one another, were in a collision with each other.

One of the trains, the passenger one, derailed and fell into the path of the on coming freight carrier. The result was the oncoming freight train crashed into the 13 passenger train cars sitting in its direct path.

There were 73 people who perished in the wreckage and another 115 wounded.

As evening approaches, there becomes more doubt that anymore people are alive in the wreckage.

Some are saying an explosive may have gone off to cause the rails to be be unsecured sending the train off the tracks. Others feel a section of the track, the fish plates, could have been taken out by someone.

There are leads going to the Maoist guerrillas in the area. Posters have been placed around proclaiming they did it. The Maoist are India’s most homeland threat to security in the country.

There is an investigation underway to find out the cause but the possibility of it being cause by the Maoist can not be eliminated.

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) — At least 21 citizens were dead and 17 injured after two railroad collided in Mathura in northern India, near New Delhi, early this morning, the news reporter reported today.

The crash, approximate 98 miles southern of New Delhi, happened at around 4 a.m. local time as shortly as an convey train from Goa, in South-west India, plowed into the rear of the stopped Mewar convey, which arose in Udaipur, Rajasthan, reporter said, mentioning eyewitnesses.

It didn’t say how many citizens were on the trains. Injured citizens were being removed to nearby hospitals, the television station said. Television footage illustrated rescue employees employing technical cutters to attempt to adrift passengers from coaches.

India’s 63,000-kilometer (39,155-mile) railway network, Asia’s oldest, supports approximate 15 million citizens each day on 11,000 passenger trains.

S. Firecracker factory explosion killed 16

A factory in India caught fire while manufacturing firecracker. According to officials, the factory was on fire shortly after a loud blast. Fire fighters rushed to the scene upon alerted, while they managed to put out the fire, as many as 16 were killed by collapsed roof top. Debris from the roof prevented the escape of many workers, causing them to be trapped in the building amid the blaze. As such, many were killed and several others injured.

This is in fact not the first incident of firecracker factory explosion in India, similar explosion had occurred before that took away lives of many. Investigation is still ongoing, while safety precaution is definitely a concern in the prevention of fire hazards.

North-eastern India caught by worst flood

As water continues to gush in amid India worst flood, local authorities are fearful that water level would rise to a level that threatens human lives. Currently, water level has already reached a dangerous level in certain areas. Floodwaters now covered much of the arable land that once thrived with vegetation and crops. In addition, people residing in low lying areas have been forced to evacuate their homes to avoid being victims in this disaster.

Local government has already deployed emergency relief aids to affected areas. Those who have been displaced are receiving food and water supplies in relief camps situated on higher grounds. Rescuers are trying to reach for those trapped in relatively inaccessible areas, bringing them out to safer ground.
