There were 480 people rescued from the burning home in the early hours on Monday. 9 people didn’t make it out.

A retirement home on the northwest side of Moscow caught fire Monday morning. It was started by a person who lived there trying to kill himself.

A man took gasoline and doused himself with it. Then he set himself on fire. He was 86 years of age and a World War 2 veteran.

The man, Nikolai Dudin, did die from his injuries. There were 8 others who died besides him. The others died of smoke inhalation.

The gas container was later found in the mans room. The fire has now been listed as arson.

On Friday, while many were working in the Luoshan Gold Mine in Zhaoyuan, a fire ignited in the mine, taking 14 lives.

At this time, 23 miners remain trapped inside the mine. Another 292 make it out to safety.

The fire began at approximately 5pm Friday evening. It is possible that a cable under the surface may have sparked causing the fire.

Many of the workers that were hurt in the accident have been transported to two area hospitals.

The mine is managed by the Lingnan Mining Company.

There were 17 people who perished in the flames of the retirement home as people tried to rescue as many as possible.

The 18th person died of a possible heart attack. The resident passed away not long after being rescued from the home.

There were 84 residents in the home that were evacuated as quickly as they could be. The home was over taken by flames as the last of the residents, 17 of them , did not make it out.

The remains of the 17 who perished in the flames were found once the fire was put out.

The was one resident, a man, who had 40% burns and was taken by air to a Johannesburg hospital.

There were also two other residents who suffered from serious wounds taken to area hospitals.

The other residents were being treated for smoke inhalation at an area church by paramedics.

A guard at the building did all he could to save some of the residents.

“Maybe I saved eight or nine people but some of them were too big and I could not carry them,” the guard told the news agency Agence France Presse.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The fire occurred in a hotel in the northern parts of Iraq. It took 30 lives and caused injury to at least 40 other people. 14 of the dead were foreigners.

The fire was in the Soma Hotel which is located in Suleimaniya. It is thought to have been started by an electrical fault. Some of the people jumped to their death trying to get away from the hot fire.

There is no reason to believe that the fire was a terrorist act.

Mirwan Saeed was in the hotel at the time of the fire. He jumped from the roof of the hotel and suffered broken legs. He said he had no alternative but to jump. His room was filling with smoke.

Some firemen were also taken over by smoke.

Other then Iraqis, there were people from Australia, UK, Canada, Venezuela, Lebanon, South Africa and Bangladesh that perished as a result of the fire.

There were at least 4 ladies and 4 children that also died.

There hundreds of people have been murdered in sectarian hostility in the environs in the past few months. A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been enforced by the Nigerian soldiers throughout the habitation of Jos since January, but still population are being brutally murdered. In the current hostility, onlookers declare Muslim herders disguised as combatants assailed a predominantly Christian settlement putting to death more than a dozen population, mostly women and children. The attackers smacked at after dark and reported employed machetes to butcher their victims before destroying homes. Survivors declare some of their family members are still missing. The killings are trusted to be connected to a feud between the nomadic Muslim gathering Fulani and the Berom, who are Christian farmers.

A firework celebration became a disaster in Guangdong, Southern China. A fireworks-triggered explosion murdered 19 citizens and injured at least 50 on Saturday. The explosion in Guangdong province’s Puning City happened on Friday evening when a farmer was setting off fireworks in front of his dwelling to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the official Xinhua news  agent  reported,  mentioning  regional authorities. The bodies of 13 citizens were recovered at the site and a further six citizens died in hospital. A villager named Yang said his dwelling, which was 200 meters from the explosion, had cracks in the walls and door. The provincial  federal was laboring to deploy the activate of the explosion. Puning City governments said they would fasten controls on dwellings employing illicit and big fireworks, according to the semi-official China News Service. Beijing – Seventeen workers were killed and six miners were trapped underground early Monday after an outburst of coal and gas at a coal mine in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, local authorities said.

The miners were working in a shaft of Malishu Coal Mine in Shuangbai County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture when the accident happened at about 1:50 a.m., said the county government. Rescuers rushed to the mine at 4:00 a.m. They were still searching for the miners. Local work safety authorities were investigating the cause of the outburst.
