17 died at building collapse in northern China

An incomplete building collapsed at a thunderstorm on August 4th, in northern China, 17 people were killed, according to the official report.

A two floor building owned by one iron casting company collapsed because of the heavy thunderstorm rain, which hit Shijiazhuang city on Tuesday, August 4th, said by Xinhua News Agency.

Name of the company is Tengfei Malleable Iron Casting Company Ltd., 20 employees of which were buried inside, but only 3 were saved and sent to hospital.

A local man said the building fell down just during a terrible thunder, when the rain dropped to the city, which is 125 miles away from Beijing.

In recent days northern part of China has been facing thunderstorms continuously due to the hot weather and high humidity.

A man from local government told that construction of the building hadn’t been done fully yet, workers were buried at the moment.

An official estimation of the total child victims in Sichuan earthquake has sparked the disbelief of many. Majority has accused the figure to be inaccurate, and could be far from the actual death toll. Though officials have repeatedly explained that the figure is genuine, many remain skeptical. Aside from the release of death toll, the government now suggests that the collapse of substantial number of school buildings might not be due to human negligence.

Investigators commented that the collapse might have been caused by other factors, however, the actual reason has yet to be confirmed. Some parents accused the authorities for trying to cover up the mistakes , judging from the fact that most collapsed infrastructures were school buildings.

China Sichuan is still undergoing recovery and restoration works from the destruction of last year’s earthquake.

More than 50 000 people fled their homes after dam collapsed in south Nepal. So far 19 000 people have been affected by this dam collapse. Nepal is facing lack of food and health officials are now concerned about an outbreak waterborne diseases. They say 6 people have die so far. About 28 million people were affected by the floods in India, Bangladesh and Nepal last year, in which more than 400 people died.

Mudslide kills 31 miners in Burkina Faso. They where mining in illegal gold mine. Accident happen when heavy rains have caused mudslide. Rescue team is digging trough mud but officials have say its unlikely anyone will be found alive. Burkina Faso have 200 000 people working in illegal mines, in June government ordered all illegal mines to shut down until September 30.
