The already badly battered Baghdad had again been exposed to another terrorist’s attack, this time target on a minibus. The mini transport bus is believed to have been planted with a bomb, which was then detonated when it was packed with commuters. In total, seven commuters have been killed in the blast, with another 20 over commuters wounded.

Though there is a positive trend of falling rate of attacks in the area, there is still a concern over possible return of violence by local authority. With the withdrawal of partial US troops from major cities and town, Iraq is left to defend its country with its own security forces.

The recent Kirkuk blast in Baghdad was targeted at a group of former militias of al-Qaeda, who allied themselves with the US government forces. Calling themselves the Awakening Councils, the group was attacked by suicide bombing when they had gathered to receive their pay. According to investigation, the bomber disguised himself as one of the council’s member, who later detonated the explosives.

Suicide bombings have been rampant in the area, taking away lives of many. A total of 23 people, including three US soldiers, had been killed in Baghdad due to suicide bombings. Civilians in the capital are feeling a sense of insecurity, believing that such bombings could be worse when US forces withdraw from Iraq in the coming June.

Being the capital of Iraq, Baghdad is the place where the economy runs, as well as a paradise favoured by local shoppers. Often, the place is packed with locals who are keen to spend their day, shopping and strolling along the streets. Amid the limelight that the capital enjoys, it is also an area prone to terrorists’ attacks. The attractiveness of the country’s capital has since faded much with the rising news and reports regarding bomb blasts.

Again, the place has been further tainted with yet another recent bomb blast. The bomb exploded in the middle of a crowd, resulting in high casualty. Local officials have estimated the death toll of be at least 20.

With the investigation still ongoing, no one has since claimed to be responsible for the attack.

A suicide motorist has caused massacre near a Police station in Baghdad.
Nearly twenty eight people have died at the spot and many more seriously injured.
Crime in Baghdad has been like the worst nightmare for the citizens living there. It is sucking life out of people and imparting fear in them. Fear of surviving and seeing another day.
American troops have forced their presence in the country and bring down the crime rate to a very low level but the threat is not completely over.
They don’t know whether the silence is a sign of defeat of terrorism or silence before the big storm.
The explosion took place outside a police station where people were standing for their police training interviews.
Innocent people who stood there with the motive to service other human beings and protect them are being targeted for nothing.
Situation has become better in the past few years. Crime has taken a back seat with peace surfacing atleast once in a while.
Obama has decided to put an end to this battle between the terrorists and the US troops in which innocent people are getting hurt for no reason.
Hopefully the country becomes a better place with peace and harmony rather than guns and blood.
