
The boat sank at around 12:30 pm ET on Sunday. It was in a distant part of the Antarctic Ocean. It was 4.5 hours later that Maritime New Zealand was given any information about the accident.
The hunt for the missing 17 people of the South Korean fishing boat has slackened down. The chances of these 17 men still being alive is nearly inconceivable. There have been 2 of the boats doing search and rescue work looking for the men that have already been sent away.
It is very possible that none of the men were bearing life vest or underwater suits.The time calculated anyone could endure those circumstances is about 10 minutes. The temperature of the water was 35.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Hypothermia would have set in quickly.
There was no indication of an emergency preceding the sinking of the boat. No SOS call went out. It is at this time unknown as to what happened.
It’s always hard to give up the search for someone. With the survival time figured at about 10 minutes and it taking aircraft as long as 8 or 9 hours, it doesn’t look good.
On board the fishing boat named the 1 insung were, 11 Indonesians, 11 Vietnamese, 8 Koreans, 8 Chinese, 3 Filipinos, and 1 Russian.
The boat had left on the second of November to fish out in the Antarctic Ocean.
