It is unknown at this time what caused the SuperFerry 9 to sink on Sunday near Zambonanga a city in the southern parts of the Phillipines.

The ferry began sinking and all were told to depart the boat once it was decided that the problem wasn’t repairable.

As the ferry plunged into the dark night water, 9 passengers perished. Over 900 other were picked up from drifting rafts.

There are still at least 30 people that haven’t been found yet. They are trusting that other searchers will find them on rafts and bring them in.

It was a swift rescue of passengers attributable to many transports being in the area at the time.

The captain has been located and is on another boat at this time. The crew, as to their whereabouts isn’t yet known.

Finding out what has happened to the passengers and crew is the main objective right now.  The crew was the last off the ship when it went down at 0842 their local time.

The National Red Cross is hoping to find some of the missing in locations along the coast.

Much help came to the rescue. There was the coast guard, the naval forces and the air force plus many personal boats that hurried out to help seach for survivors.

The sky was full of choppers sent out by the Phillipine airforce to search for the ones whose whereabouts was still unknown.
