Boat Sinks, 10 missing
The ship sank at 1:43pm on Saturday close to the Basil Channel. That is 240 nautical miles on the south side of Shantous located in Guangdong province.
The ship was carrying 40,000 tons of nickel ore when it went down and was flying the Panamanian flag. All the missing crew members are Chinese.
By 4pm on Saturday, 14 of the crew members had been taken on board a Chinese boat and a Taiwanese jet.
A Chinese rescue ship continues to search for the missing sailors. The search is continuing even with the strong winds.
It is unknown at this time what caused the ship to sink.
