
There was a 3 month old baby killed and two additional children. Many more received injuries and numerous houses were destroyed.
It went through the central western border region in Mississippi that borders with Alabama which along with Louisiana also received voluminous damage and lost of lives.
Trees were broken in half by the winds. Cars flipped over and roofs lifted off buildings. It left Mississippi in darkness as the downed trees took power lines down with them.
There were 5 people killed from the Choctaw County area located in the north central region of Mississippi. Four others were from the Yazoo County which is located on the north side of Jackson . One more that died was from Holmes County which is located in the north central part of Mississippi.
The raging storm continued on into Alabama where two more people perished from it. A man driving along ran his car into a tree and died as a result. Another death was the result of a woman hitting her head when hurrying into a safe place.
The winds were blowing at speeds as much as 170 miles per hour. The area of Yazoo received the worst of the storm.
Emergency federal aid is going to be asked for by the Gov. of Mississippi.
