Now the search persists on for the airbus that vanished from radar as it took flight at about 35,000 feet and at a speed of 521 miler per hour. The plane was flying off the coast of Brazil having departed from Rio de Janeiro airport.
The plane was reported as flying into a stormy area before contact was lost. The warnings were sent out at approximately 10 o’clock eastern time Sunday night.
The area the plane disappeared is a very large area and satellites are being requested to try and help solve the mystery. Even with the storms in the area, other planes passed through and landed safely.
The airbus was to set down in Paris at 9:10 GMT or 5:10am ET. It failed to get hold of the traffic control at 3:20 GMT as instructed just an hour after the last link with the plane at 2:33 GMT.
At 6:30 GMT, 3 hours later, the Brazilian authorities requested a search for the plane by the air force to commence.
The plane , only 4 years old, departed from the airport,with no reported problems.
