Heavy down pours of rainfall in Burma causing mudslides and flooding has taken 46 lives this past week.

In Maungdaw 28 people died. An additional 18 people perished in Buthidaung which borders Bangladesh.

Many people are being evacuated and rescue crews are out there looking for others that need help.

On Tuesday, there were mudslides which resulted in the deaths of 53 people in Bangladesh.

At least 13.5 inches of rain came down in Maungdaw this past week all on one day.

A witness stated seeing 10 houses damaged as mud came down the hillsides.

A continued act of cutting the trees down off the hillsides is one of the causes for these mudslides. Trees are needed to help hold the ground in place when the heavy rains come.

Back in 2008, there were close to 140.000 people that died when a cyclone hit on the south side of Burma.
