Fierce storm in South Africa kills eight people

KwaZulu-Natal experienced one of the fiercest storms which claimed lives of eight people.
The storm has destroyed a lot of homes leaving houses with no roofs. Number of lightning strikes was reported, due to which atleast four members lost their lives.
Reports suggest that atleast 2000 households were affected across the cities of Ndwendwe, Pietermaritzburg and Dalton.
In these cities authorities have stepped up and initiated programs of setting up tents for homeless people and providing food etc.
The places have been experiencing a series of storms in the past few months. But this one has been a combination of devastation and terror.
active cold fronts associated with low pressure systems can sometimes give rise to intense thunderstorms that occur during the day or night and cause a lot of damage. The storm in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend was one such event.
