There are still many people missing and feared dead. The number of people who died could rise quite a bit more particularly in the town of Jeddah.
Many are without a home and are living in places set up by the authorities. Here they will recieve both food and shelter. There are many that have lost much and it being looked into as to how to help them get back on their feet.
It is felt by some that the authorities were negligent in how they are prepared for floods. That the disaster as a whole should never have happened. One lawyer has been said to be considering a law suit against the Jeddah authorities. Many of the local people are using the internet to express their concern about how Jeddah is not set up to protect the city from this type of flooding.
When the flooding first burst into the Red Sea port town, there were people sitting in their cars. They didn’t instantly drown, they died later due to flooding or cars ramming each other in the fast moving water. There were also instances of bridges falling down on cars and killing the occupants.
As of Wednesday, it is now time for the yearly Hajj pilgrimage in the close by city of Mecca. Due to the heavy rains that day the pilgrimage was hindered. According to officials, there were no members of the pilgrimage that perished in the floods.
Aside from what happened in Jeddah, there were also people who perished in floods in Rabigh and Mecca.
