In North Waziristan, Taliban activists attacked a group of Pakastani armed force vehicles as they were traveling in the Gharlamai area near the town of Wachabbi.

The rebels shot off rocket propelled grenades at the autos as they passed killing 12 of the pakastani soldiers. 10 of the other soldiers in convoy were wounded in the attack.

The ambush happened following the offer of an award for any information about the Taliban leader. Rewards have also been set for the deputy chief of the Taliban and for 5 additional leaders which include Qari Hussain who is known for having bivouacs set up to prepare the suicide bombers.

Following the attack, a battle errupted and the result of the shooting was 10 of the rebels being killed.

Battles have been noted all across the north west as the military continues to flush out Taliban rebels from their areas.

It is reported that in Kurram, over 35 people were killed since Saturday in battles between the rebel forces and military assaults.

The military is aiming at  wiping out the base operations of the Taliban leader, Baitullah Mehsud. He is said to be in the mountain areas of South Waziristan. There is also a award that has been set for finding him and bringing him in.
