9 Perish in Turnpike Accident

When you start a road trip or just are on your way to work or the store, you cannot  imagine the fact that you may not return home. That is what happened to 9 people traveling through Miami, Oklahoma on the Will Rogers Turnpike on June 26th.

A tractor-trailer approaching stopped traffic neglected to stop and plowed into stopped cars. Eight adults and a child were found dead amongst at least 3 cars that were demolished by the truck.  There were also many other cars damaged by the chain reation.

The site was depicted as looking like a war zone where a bomb had gone off with all the pieces of cars and the bodies of victims everywhere.

The accident is under investigation. It appears that the driver of the truck may not have attempted to stop. The speed limit is 75 in the area it took place. The driver is being checked over out but there was no sign of alcohol being involved.

The turnpike’s eastbound side had to be closed for hours as the highway was being cleared of clothing, snacks,  a suitcase containing little girls garmets, and the debris of the cars.
