    The ferry left Tanzania’s city of Dar es Salaam in route to Unguja where it took on even more passengers before going on to Pemba. Some passengers in Unguja felt the boat tilting and tried to get off. Some did before the crew pulled up the ladder.

    While on the way to Pemba, something went wrong. The engine may have stalled out and the over loaded boat began drifting in the Indian Ocean. One passenger described it as zigzagging or dizziness.

    The Queensland is experiencing some major flooding that is forcing many from their homes.

    In Theodore, there were 300 people living there that had to be flown out by a fleet of helicopters. The water had engulfed homes and other buildings there.

    The flooding has hurt the sunflower and cotton crops bringing losses of hundreds of millions of dollars in crop damage.

    Brisbane, the state capital has had more rain this December then they have in over 150 years.

    The temperatures are in the freezing range and heavy snow fall continues to drop on the northern parts of Europe.

    12 people died in areas across Poland of the cold. Freezing to death on Thursday night.

    The total deaths due to this cold snap is now 30.

    People are dieing of exposure or in accidents that have been caused by the weather.

    Poland is seeing temperatures as low as -33C which is the same as -27F over the last few days.

    May through November in Mexico, Central America and the northern area of South America is known for being the rainy time of year. Excessive amounts of rain pelts these areas and most often result in flooding that takes lives and destroys dwellings.

    In Venezuela, a state of emergency has been called for in 4 of the states. This includes the capital of Venezuela, Caracas.

    Thousands of residents have been forced from their houses by the rising waters. There have been about 5,600 people left without homes to return to.

    It’s cold, temperatures are projected to go down as low as -20C. The recorded record low of -16.1C was in Altnaharra which is located in the northern parts of Scotland. The lowest temperature of the winter of 2010 was -22.3C.

    Approximately 850 schools have been shut down and 3,000 houses were at sometime without electric power. Scottish Hydro is hoping to have all homes back online by late tonight. Extra personnel have been brought in to help fix the problem.

    Earlier in Barbados, while still only a tropical storm, Tomas tore up homes and knocked down electrical lines. In Barbados there were reports of wind gust of 63 mph.

    Tomas hit the shores of St Lucia and St Vincent with heavy rainfall and high wind gusts on Sunday as a category 1 hurricane. Wind gust of up to 69 mph were reported on St Lucia.

    On the island of St Lucia, the number dead from the hurricane has risen to 14 with 21 people still missing. The death toll could rise...
