It was very early on Sunday morning when the landslides started. The newest disaster for the China.

In Zhouqu, the area that took the hardest hit, nearly half of the county was now beneath the water. There were numerous homes that had fallen and the streets were coated with mud and water.

Landslides were caused by the down pouring of rain that ravaged china during the night time hours on Saturday. There was also a river that flooded out of it’s banks.

The thick mud covered roads and land are hampering the rescuers. Making it hard to drive into areas or walk over the terrain.

It is possible that there were about 50,000 people whose lives were affected by this disaster. Electricity had to be cut off from the affected areas.

They are using helicopters to check out the damage.

There are also 2400 soldiers that have been sent to aide the rescue efforts.
