Heavy rains have been reported in UK on Saturday morning. A lot of devastation and over flooding has been caused in South West England due to the flooding.

Rescue teams have been kept busy through out the day. Atleast 7 people were rescued, who were trapped in their cars in the midst of the flooding.
An active frontal system found in the west is reported to be the reason for the cause of the heavy rains.

Yeovilton received about 34 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, most of it falling in a particular hour only. With this the average rainfall in the month of December raised upto 80 mm.
December and January are the wettest months in south west England because due to warm sea temperatures during these months Atlantic depressions are more vigorous.

The flood is expected to head eastwards and continue pouring over the weekend.
