Pounded by heavy rainfall, Brazil largest city, Sao Paulo, is now badly affected. Rainfall triggered floods and mudslides, killing nearly 150 people across the city. City’s drainage could no longer sustain the amount of water flushing through, causing water levels to rise. Many residents were seemed taking refuge in roofs to avoid being washed away.

Commuters are troubled by the city’s paralysed transport network. Cars were unable to travel on roads, and even planes could not take off at Congonhas Airport due to bad weather. Flash floods did not spare Minas Gerais State either, with more than 49 cities been declared as disaster areas. In yet another area, in Rio de Janeiro state, 44,000 were made homeless since the flood started.
