
This is the first day the people have been able to come out and vote in the Iraq parliamentary election.
There was a mortar assault in a busy market place early in the day that took the lives of 7 people and injured possibly 10 others.
The first to vote in the elections are hundreds of thousands of employees of the government, people who are ill and inmates.
The first bomb went off at a voting station in Baghdad in the area of Mansion. There were 3 soldiers that died in the explosion and 15 others injured.
Less then an hour later, yet another explosion went off in the middle of Baghdad when a man blew himself up taking with him at least 4 other people and injuring 10 additional people.
A mortar was set off to hit a voting station, but missed and took at least 7 lives in a busy market place. 4 of the dead are children. There were 23 others injured.
On Wednesday, before elections had even began, there were 3 suicide bomber that went after a police and a hospital. The result of the attack is 30 people perished.
Rebels plan on causing havoc during the elections. Iraq is attempting to gain control and over come partisan divisions.
People are being restricted on their traveling during the election time. The major amount of votes will be cast on Sunday as the majority of Iraq citizens will make their way to the voting stations.
There are over 6000 people running for positions in which there is only a total of 325 openings.
Soon United States will start cutting back on the number of troops there are in Iraq and by 2011, they plan to be out of Iraq completely.
