Damges in Italy Earthquake

The central Abruzzo region was affected by the 6.3-magnitude earthquake on April 6 which killed 294 people. It dismantled or damaged tens of thousands of homes and many other buildings.

Among the 1,467 constructions that checked over since last Monday, 53 percent of these buildings were considered as inhabitable, whereas the remaining had varied levels of damage that made them at least temporarily uninhabitable. For all these damages, they need at minimum $16 billion as reconstructing.

Now there still approximately 55,000 people forced out by this disaster — around 33,000 of who are living in the camps that set up at the area. However, the related officials say they intent to get victims out of the tent cities before following winter, which is very frosty in the hilly Abruzzo area.

Thus far, the government also barred all the payments upon mortgages and loans till the end of the year. And also it’s authorized subsidies for families and business possessors.
