Moderately strong earthquake creates panic in Tokyo, but there were no injuries or damage reported.
The magnitude of this earthquake was 5.1 and it was centers about 90 miles north from Tokyo. No tsunami warning was issued. Japan is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries and experiences thousands of minor tremors each year. The last giant tremor in Tokyo was the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, which left 142,807 people dead. Japanese get hit by 20% of the world major earthquakes.
