Since deployment in 2001, an estimated 136 UK troops have been killed, including 11 Royal Marines in the past two months.
Commander Paula Rowe, 42 Commando, and Capt Mark Windsor, of the Royal Navy, have expressed sadness at the marine’s death. Capt Mark Windsor commented the marine as a dedicated professional who risked his life in bringing security and stability to the people of Afghanistan.
