The bomb exploded in the town of Charikar, outside the offices of the Parwan provincial governor, 50km (30 miles) north of the capital, Kabul. At the time of the blast, a unit of US troops from Bagram base near Kabul was having a meeting with the provincial governor. The two injured soldiers were among those in the unit.
Clashes and violence near Kabul are in a rise, though it used to be relatively free from such attacks, said correspondents. The US is planning to send troops of 20,000 and 30,000 over the next six months to Afghanistan to aid in rising security demand.
