Countless clashes between Sri Lankan Army and the Tamil Tigers had taken place since decades ago. In a recent battle between the two, a pro-rebel TamilNet website revealed that more than 90 Sri Lankan troops had been killed and another180 injured. However, the source was obtained from a one-sided reveal, making its reliability in doubt.

Military spokesman Brig Udaya Nanayakkara denied the figures, however, he confirmed the clashes had occurred. According to his side of information, 27 Tamil Tiger terrorists were killed during the battles and 20 army soldiers had died during the battles.

The actual death toll remains unknown, since both sides have declared different sets of findings. Besides, there is no way that reporters could affirm the figures in view of the fact that they have been forbade from entering the fighting zone.
