Sixteen people have been killed in a recent suicide car bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Among the victims, one of them was a policeman, while others were civilians.

According to city’s governor, the bomb was detonated at a police checkpoint. The checkpoint was 200m away from a lookout post belonging to the African Union (AU) peacekeeping mission. The AU was responsible for the guarding of Mogadishu’s presidential palace, however, majority of the city is under Islamist rebels control.

The attack being described as ‘massacre’ by Mohamed Osman Ali is still under investigation. Thus far, no active party has claimed to be responsible over the attack.
