Shootout Near border takes 21 lives
The groups are thought to be associated with drugs and trafficking of persons. The battle took place about 12 miles on the south side of the Mexican/USA border.
There were 8 vehicles later found by officials and 7 weapons. The vehicles had many bullet holes. They were found around 20 miles on the south side of Nogales, Arizona.
As to why the shootout happened, there is yet no answer to that. They are hoping to get information from people they are holding at this time. They have so far arrested 9 people. 6 of them did require medical treatment, but their injuries were not life threatening.
They are still looking for others that were there when the battle occurred.
