They thought she was another pilgrim on her way to Karbala to remember the death of Imam Hussein. The pilgrims have 40 days of mourning that they spend traveling to the burial place of Imam Hussein and another very honored Shiite figure.

It is a steady march of people passing through neighborhoods and along a highway that goes out of Baghdad.

The bomber walked amongst them. Pretending to be in mourning. Till Monday, when the bomb was set off. There were 16 people killed by the bomb. Amongst the dead were 3 grown females and 2 children.

Another 38  people were injured by the bomb. Of the 38, 5 were grown females and 6 were children.

This is the first hit made towards the pilgrims in the 2010 march. There is fear that once the final day of the march ends on Friday, that the attacks could become more often.

Al Qaida and Sumni radicals tend to be agressive towards the pilgrims in order to try and lower the trust in the Shiite predominated government.
