Following the resignation of former Madagascar president – Marc Ravalomanana, large numbers of protestants have gathered in the country’s capital in the demand for their leader to return. According to sources, many have been protesting against the newly appointed president – Andry Rajoelina, calling for him to step down in exchange for the former president to be re-appointed.

It has been an issue for the local government since the replacement of the new government last month. Supporters of Ravalomanana are reluctant to accept that their leader has resigned, which later caused much uproar. For instance, the recent protest had caused many supporters to be wounded by gunshots fired from local security forces. It is not understood if the firing was targeted to the sky to fear off the protestants, or had been fired directly at the protestants. Many were injured, including children, while most have already been discharged from hospital.

The protestants have outwardly declared that they will be holding another protest soon to bring across their demand to the government.
