The people who were killed in the attacks were mainly women. A woman who was busy selling milk had a shell land on her. That resulted in the deaths of many others and many injuries.
Ali Musa, the head of the ambulance service stated that the shells began in the morning. The Islamists rebels started shooting mortars at Somalia’s parliament building. The lawmakers were in a meeting at the time.
The firing back and forth between the Islamists and the African Union continued up to 3:20 Thursday afternoon.
