With US armies progressively wiping out Al-Qaeda militants, the scattered rebel forces are seeking all means to drive out foreign security forces from Iraq. Often, the militants would resolve to suicide bombings that would result in both soldier and civilian casualties. In the two recent bomb attacks, militant suicide bombers claimed lives of four and injured at least 20. Among them, officials reported that majority of the victims were from the police force.

The first blast took place in the centre of Baghdad, whereby a police patrol car was targeted. Two people were reported dead, while 12 others were injured. The second attack took place after an uproar in the the northern city of Mosul. Outraged militants detonated a suicide car bomb, taking away the lives of two policemen and injured10 others.

As foreign security forces and the rebel militants continue to oppose each others, more civilians are expected to fall victims in the crossfires between the two parties. Many US soldiers have since been killed in mission, however, the government is determined to root out the remaining militant forces.
