
A bomb went off outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, on Kifa Street and one was located in the area of Salhiya along with two additional ones on the east side of Baghdad’s Beirut Square. Most of thems were identified as explosives placed n trucks. All the bombs exploded within the hour.
The Iraqi Prime Minister is reported as saying “The terrorism attacks that took place today require, without a doubt, the re-evaluation of our plans and our security mechanisms to face the challenges of terrorism.” This was reported in a memo that had been written down.
It was a black hour for the people of Baghdad as they saw rescue vehicles racing to the scene to help the injured and remove the dead. Automobiles had been sent airborne with the blast and many became just hunks of metal. Parts of buildings were blown up. Things will never be the same.
Two members of the terrorist organization that are being checked into as contributing to the bombings have been placed under arrest by the Iraqis.
At the time they were apprehended, they were in a automobile traveling along that had bombs in it ready to set to explode.
It is possible they are some of the older head members of the al Qaeda in Iraq.
On June 30th, US started withdrawing it’s military personnel from Iraq towns and returning the patrolling of the towns to the Iraq Security.
Even though the US has withdrew military personnel, they are available and still being preparedĀ to be able to help out as needed in the out lying areas.
