Umar Khalid who is the leader of the Pakistani Taliban in the Mohmand Agency told how the material was handed out to discourage any people who were part of peace groups or Lashkars (tribal militias) to not consider working with the government.
“We will continue to attack all pro-government officials and their supporters who try to join any peace committees or Lashkars,” Khalid said.
A group of people were not frightened off by the warnings. They were meeting with government officials in the agency’s main building of Ghalanai, Pakistan. Just as they were about to begin, a blast went off inside their building and another one outside the gate.
The explosions killed 50 people and wounded possibly more then 70. The victims were transported to a close by hospital.
