
The assaults happened in Tikrit, Samarra and Baiji in the province of Salaheddin. Salaheddin is located in the northern part of Mosul and in Iraq’s capital.
A motorcycle with a bomb exploded in Tikrit near the home of a military commander, Lt Col. Qais Rashid.
The commander wasn’t home at the time but 11 members of his family were killed. The dead include his dad, 3 sisters,and a one year old baby. There were 4 others injured.
There was another assault in the city where 2 members of Lt. Col Khalid Akdhair’s family were injured. He is an Iraqi officer and was not at his house at the time of the bombing.
There were three police officers that died and two more injured where rebels had placed an explosive at the checkpoint in Samarra.
Four people were injured in Baiji when rebels tossed grenades at the homes of a physician, a previous army officer in the Iraqi army and two members of the Sons of Iraq, the pro-government militia group.
Even in Mosul, a police officer was shot dead by a man. Then in Baghdad, there were 12 Iranians injured when sticky bombs were set off targeting two buses which were transporting Iranian pilgrims.

So many innocent die in these attacks. How long must this violence continue. A baby, a father, sisters, none had done wrong. A bus full of passengers wounded. Why should they be targets?
