Another roadside bombing by the Taliban resulted in 12 people dead in Herat, Afghanistan on Monday.
It was a bomb commanded from a distance by a device that caused it to exploded during the hours people are returning home from their employment and other activities. The bomb is assumed to have been intended for the head of the local police department, but it took the lives of many who were just passing through by a blood bank in Herat.

A 12 year old girl, an adult female, two police officers were amongst the people who perished in the explosion on Monday.
There were adult females and youngsters arriving in ambulances at an armed forces infirmary in Herat. They were being brought into the facility on stretchers according to spectators.
The number who perished stands at 12 with 29 others injured. Khoja Issa, the police chief of the region was also badly injured.
A speaker for the Taliban, Qari Mohammad Yousuf reported that Issa, the police chief was the target of the assault.
What is normally considered an law-abiding and flourishing center of trade, Herat on Monday became the an region of grieving for the dead and injured.
