A man armed with a pistol broke into Azerbaijan’s reputable oil business school, opening fire and killing at least 12 people and injuring 13 prior to committing suicide by shooting himself. Government officials said the murderer Godyrov got into the Oil Academy of Azerbaijan state and went up five levels along the building, firing his gun at everybody he encountered with all along the way. After noticing the forthcoming of policemen, he went on shooting himself with the Makarov pistol. However, the officials could not deduce the motive of the assault.
Eyewitnesses Bekir Belek, who is still haunted by the tragedy, said that they were in the midst of an examination when they heard gunfire, when they ran out of the room they saw a man shooting at everybody and many people were murdered and injured. Another eyewitness, Mamedov mentioned that the man was quite short, as he passed the walkways of the school he aimed at anyone who was standing inside his range, and firing at their heads. The convict would fire another shot at the victim who was still alive after the first shot.
The oil business academy, which has been established since early 20th century, has been acknowledged as a leading center for nurturing specialists in the oil industry.
