    Pakistani army moving into militants hideouts
    Militants hiding within their hideouts are gradually being wiped out by Pakistani army, pushing further down into the tribal region. Instead of plotting against the Pakistani army, militants are now targeting smaller groups. One of the security checkpoint was targeted, resulting in three tribal policemen being killed.

    Though majority of the militants have already been subdued, a small group remains active that often attempt to ambush military personnels. The government has since urged those who had escaped to avoid militants to return back to their homes. The former has rest assured the civilians that the areas are in control, and is safe for them to return home.

    Suicide bomb attacks on the rise in Iraq

    Following the withdrawal of part of the US troops, Iraq are now experiencing a rising trend of suicide bomb attacks. Moreover, terrorists have progressed to more deadly attacks, involving larger number of casualties. To date, more than 50 people, inclusive of military personnels, have already fallen victims to a series of suicide attacks.

    In one recent attack terrorists made use of a single bomb attack to draw attention from large crowd, while detonating the next one to bring down more casualties. Such high casualties brings about the debate of whether Iraq is ready for its own defense against terrorist threats.

    Total withdrawal of US troops from Iraq would be by 2012. By then, Iraq would be totally dependent on itself to resist the terrorists.

    China struck with another earthquake

    A recent earthquake pulled down at least 10,000 houses, making countless families homeless. According to local authority, Yunnan, south-western China, came under a 5.7 magnitude earthquake which was then followed by another eight aftershocks. Many were caught off-guard, resulting in one being killed and many others injured.

    Emergency relief aids are already in place to assist the thousands that have been displaced from their homes. Manpower have been deployed as well in an event that evacuation is deemed necessary.

    Last year, Sichuan province, which is just neighbouring Yunnan, experienced an earthquake that amounted to a death toll of 80,000. While the former was still in the verge of rebuilding and reconstruction, China experienced yet another devastating disaster.

    Floods in London caused misery to commuters

    Most thought that they could return home after a hard day work and an all day bad weather, however, they were told that the several train stations were closed due to rain floods. Local authority confirmed that several underground train stations were closed due to flooding, while commuter were advised to seek for alternative transport means. Many were left puzzled that a 20 minute long rain could have caused the train station to be flooded.

    All stations have since resumed back to service, while this incident has definitely caused much inconvenience to commuters.

    Firecracker factory explosion killed 16

    A factory in India caught fire while manufacturing firecracker. According to officials, the factory was on fire shortly after a loud blast. Fire fighters rushed to the scene upon alerted, while they managed to put out the fire, as many as 16 were killed by collapsed roof top. Debris from the roof prevented the escape of many workers, causing them to be trapped in the building amid the blaze. As such, many were killed and several others injured.

    This is in fact not the first incident of firecracker factory explosion in India, similar explosion had occurred before that took away lives of many. Investigation is still ongoing, while safety precaution is definitely a concern in the prevention of fire hazards.

    As early as last year August, US has launched several drone attacks that claimed to be targeting Taliban hideouts. However, each attack often brought about high civilian casualties, causing the uproar of civilians and local officials. The authority had arranged meetings with US president regarding issue on drone attack, urging the needs to keep civilian casualties low.

    Recently, US troops have targeted an area that they believed to be a refuge camp for Taliban militants. Attacks were launched on two separate occasion, whereby the first took the lives of 12 militants and the second claimed lives of seven. Though drone attacks have far been successful in eradicating militants, however, Pakistan is especially concerned on the rise of resentment towards the killing of innocent civilians. The latter claimed that such massive killings could lead to civilians being supportive of militants.

    North-eastern India caught by worst flood

    As water continues to gush in amid India worst flood, local authorities are fearful that water level would rise to a level that threatens human lives. Currently, water level has already reached a dangerous level in certain areas. Floodwaters now covered much of the arable land that once thrived with vegetation and crops. In addition, people residing in low lying areas have been forced to evacuate their homes to avoid being victims in this disaster.

    Local government has already deployed emergency relief aids to affected areas. Those who have been displaced are receiving food and water supplies in relief camps situated on higher grounds. Rescuers are trying to reach for those trapped in relatively inaccessible areas, bringing them out to safer ground.

    Philippines high alert on bomb threats

    Philippines are now facing a rising bomb threats from local militants who roam in the country creating much distress. Not long ago, a church was believed to be targeted by militants where many were injured and killed by a bomb blast. While, a more recent bomb blast took away another six lives in Southern Philippines. Investigation claimed that the a bomb was planted on a motorbike, which exploded near a hardware store. Aside from the dead, many were also injured in the attack.

    Police department is still investigating the rational behind this attack. However, many have suspected the attack to be linked with the area militant group.
