    Italy in Heat red alert

    Heat waves in Italy make several city’s to be on red alert. Bologna replaces Florence in the alarm system for the prevention of health effects of heat waves, Florence is back to ‘level 1′, Perugia, Rieti, Civitavecchia, Rome, Latina, Frosinone, Reggio Calabria, Messina and Palermo are still on ‘level 3′. Perceived temperatures will reach 38 degrees in Latina, the hottest city in these three days, the same level will be reached by Messina tomorrow.

    Mine shaft kills 18 miners

    Mine shaft collapsed on July 1. in Shaanxi Province. The accident happen at 11h AM at Huisen Liangshuijing Coal Mine in Shenmu County. 28 workers were underground when mine shaft collapse, 12 were rescued, but two of them die in hospital. 16 miners who were trapped underground were confirmed dead today. Work safety officials are investigating the accident.

    State of Emergency Decree in Mongolia

    Mongolian President N. Enkhbayar signed a decree to declare state of emergency on July 1.
    Unofficial translation of the decree:
    Considering the public disorder caused by a group of men in the Sukhbaatar District on July 1 that threatened the lives of people, the lives of law enforcement officers, the safety of public and private properties, the President of Mongolia hereby declares a state of emergency for four days effective from 24:00 o’clock on July 1, 2008 over the territory of Ulaanbaatar based on the full power adhered to by the Constitution, and the Law on Emergency Situations. The following steps are to be taken within the period of the emergency situation:
    1. Secure the safety of particular Objects of State with reinforcement.
    2. To forcibly disperse any public protest, demonstration and gatherings organized illegally.
    3. To restrict the movement of vehicles in the central area of Ulaanbaatar city.
    4. To forcibly disperse and to detain disturbers that cause public disorder, and to confiscate the firearms, vehicles and equipment they use.
    5. To restrict civilian movement in the center of Ulaanbaatar, particularly Baga Toiruu, a small ring road, between 22:00pm till 08:00am. Any unidentified man who violates this regime and has no civil ID card or any card that equals a civil ID card, will be the target of arrest by police or military officers who are on patrol, and receive up to 72 hours detainment.
    6. To ban all manual use of megaphones or any vehicle equipped with voice amplifying devices, and to confiscate them if necessary. To stop the operation of all television stations except the National Public Radio and Television service until the emergency situation has lifted.
    7. To ban any sales and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
    8. To impose control on the civilian usage of firearms, industrial use of explosives, chemical and radioactive substances, and military firearms and vehicles that are used for training purposes.
    9. To undertake necessary measures for the implementation of this decree within the Law of Emergency and other legal acts.

    At this civil disorder which happen on 1 July 5 people have die, 100 police officers were serious injured and 220 civilians were hospitalized. Riot happen in Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar from a mass protest.

    Tropical Storm Bertha

    Tropical Storm Bertha has formed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. This is second named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season and its moving towards the west. Its too early to say if it will hit land. First tropical storm was named Arthur this season.

    Thunderstorm hits Brush City

    Cleanup is continuing in Morgan County after all day thunderstorm which flooded the hospital and knocked down trees. Brush City Administrator Monty Torres say: “People where gathering at rodeo when first lightning come, weather service have issued tornado warning. “About once or twice a year we get a pretty good rain storm but this one was a lot more rain, combined with the high winds, and it really did damage here”. Rodeo, parade and carnival will continue thanks to residents that worked hard to clean up streets.

    Bird flu in Burundi

    Food security in Burundi Kayanza reports untreatable chicken disease which have kill over 1000 chickens. Disease is also reported in other parts of country. This is first time that Bird Flu hit Burundi. Egg production also drops to 80%. Animal Health Department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Stock breeding, Pierre Bukuru said the illness, which has similar symptoms to Newcastle Disease, was affecting the economic lives of people raising chickens or trading in meat and eggs.
