    Tropical Storm Agatha Hits Pacific

    Tropical storm, Agatha, the first topical storm of the season for the Pacific area, has been raising  havoc across Guatemala, SE Mexico and a large area of El Salvador. It brought to the area,  heavy rainfall, flash flooding and landslides.

    As the storm left the area, there were at least 12 people found who had perished and yet another 11 in Guatemala are still yet to be found.

    There were 4  children found buried in a landslide on the outskirts of Guatemala City. 4 adults were found dead in Guatemala. Yet another 2 children and 2 grownups were killed as a boulder crashed into a  house. The bolder had become loose by the heavy rains and slid down the hill.

    The expected rainfall from Agatha was to be about 10 to 20 inches spread out over the 3 areas. There was a possibility of up to 30 inches of rainfall in some areas by Sunday night.

    Guatemala was already suffering the eruption of Pacaya a volcano on Thursday. There were at least 1800 people that left the area to find shelter elsewhere. 3 people died in the eruption.

    Gunmen Ravage Jewelry Shops and Leave 14 Dead

    In the Bayaa district and area of Baghdad located in the SW part of the city, a group of gunmen terrorized the people as they went up and down a street throwing grenades into jewelry stores.

    There were about 10 men equipped with guns and explosives that hit the line of shops up and down the street. They would throw a grenade into the shop, then enter the store stealing all the gold and cash they could. Many times they shot the store keeper before leaving to go onto the next store.

    One witnessed said they heard a blast, then saw dead bodies lying outside a jewelry shop.

    Only one of the gang was killed by officials as they were in a gun battle. There were 4 officers wounded.

    On Friday, at about 1:30 in the morning in India, two railroad trains traveling parallel to one another, were in a collision with each other.

    One of the trains, the passenger one, derailed and fell into the path of the on coming freight carrier. The result was the oncoming freight train crashed into the 13 passenger train cars sitting in its direct path.

    There were 73 people who perished in the wreckage and another 115 wounded.

    As evening approaches, there becomes more doubt that anymore people are alive in the wreckage.

    Some are saying an explosive may have gone off to cause the rails to be be unsecured sending the train off the tracks. Others feel a section of the track, the fish plates, could have been taken out by someone.

    There are leads going to the Maoist guerrillas in the area. Posters have been placed around proclaiming they did it. The Maoist are India’s most homeland threat to security in the country.

    There is an investigation underway to find out the cause but the possibility of it being cause by the Maoist can not be eliminated.

    Over Crowed Ferry Flips Over on the Amazon River

    On Wednesday, a ferry on the Amazon River flipped over. According to riders that survived the accident, the ferry was horribly over crowed.

    The amount of people the ship is suppose to carry is 160. At the time of the article being written, there were 171 people that had been rescued. Another 12 already found to have perished in the accident.

    It is unknown how many people were actually on board the boat. The official record of who was to be on the boat at that time were 146 passengers and 6 crew.

    It is possible there could be more people alive in a bubble of air entrapped in side the flipped boat.  There is hope for more survivors.

    The boat had made many stops along the way at settlements where more people, freight and animals were put on the boat.

    The  boat commenced it’s voyage on Tuesday evening. As it continued to stop and get more freight on board, it is believed that the boat was over weight and not stable. Therefore causing it to flip over.

    Some survivors feel they only survived because they kept close to the railings as to not be trapped inside where there were people so squished in you couldn’t hardly move.

    The coast guard got an alarm on Wednesday morning at 2:40am. The alarm was for a boat sinking because it was over loaded.

    Rescue attempts continued Thursday morning in Peru searching in hope of more survivors.

    Russian Tourists Perish in Turkey Bus Accident

    A Turkey bus loaded with Russian tourist sailed off a bridge landing on it’s roof in a river bed.

    16 people died including the driver and guide.  Another 25 people were hurt in the crash.

    The bus was transporting people from the coast resort of Alanya to the hot springs of Pamukkale and water falls.

    The passengers that were hurt in the crash are receiving medical care in local hospitals.

    A plane from Russia is being brought it to pick up the injured Russians and take them back home.

    At this time, there is  no known cause for the accident which happened in the early morning hours.

    It happened in the  Mediterranean state of Antalya. The road where the accident occurred is a very up to date 4 lane highway.

    Turkey does seem to have more accidents then the rest of Europe does. There is an average of 7000 people that die in accidents a year.

    Landslides on volcano
    Landslides on volcano
    Many have been left without a home as the river overflowed it banks and washed away the land on the side of the Nyiragongo Volcano.

    There were 250 homes demolished over the weekend by a river swollen and out of it’s banks, washing away the soil.

    The volcano is located close to Goma a town located in the eastern parts of Dr Congo.

    There are 54 people that have still not been found. 26 people that perished in the landslide have been found but there is yet an additional 28 yet to be found.

    It is possible that 5000 people have been affected by the landslide.

    32 People Die in Expressway Accident in NE China

    It was early Sunday morning. A bus traveling along on an freeway in Fuxin City, which is located on the NE side of China’s Liaoning province, was hit by a truck going the wrong way.

    The truck had just pulled out of a service station and must have missed the going wrong way sign. The driver continued on and the truck ran directly into the bus. A fire resulted from the crash.

    There were three people in the truck that died and 28 people riding on the bus also died at the time of the crash. There were 22 passengers transported to the hospital. One of them died at the hospital.

    The bus was traveling from Tianijin to Harbin. It is registered in the Tianijin municipality. The accident occurred at about 3am.

    The roadway is under repair where the accident occurred according to local transport authorities.

    For a short while, traffic was stopped but the road has now opened back up.

    Possibly 158 Die in India Plane Crash

    On Saturday morning, as the Boeing 737 approached the Mangalore airport at 6:30am, it passed over the runway and crashed.

    At this time, of the 166 people on board that plane, only 8 are known to have survived.

    The weather was good. There were no notifications from the pilot that they were having problems. The reason for the crash is unknown.

    8 people jumped from the plane as it landed. They escaped before the plane was engulfed in flames.

    The passengers on the plane included, 32 women, 105 men and 19 children. 4 of the children on board were babies.

    There were 6 crew members onboard.

    Rescue efforts were hindered by the area where the crash took place. It is a very hilly area with lots of trees. Large amounts of smoke was also pouring from the plane also handicapped the efforts.

    Families of the people who died in the crash are getting $4260 for individual. Ones who were injured are receiving $1,064.

    Boeing is also going to send out a group of people to help India Air investigate the crash.
