    Burning Oil Spill in Gulf
    Burning Oil Spill in Gulf
The oil spill continues to flow into the Gulf after an explosion happened at a rig last week.

The well is located under the water and is allowing possibly 5,000 barrels a day of oil to spill into the Gulf.

The oil is a major threat to wildlife. Many are in their breeding time according to an environmental organization.

There were 11 people who worked on the oil rig that  have not yet been found and are thought to have perished. An explosion on the oil rig is what started the oil spilling into the gulf.

Birds are at this time in their time of building their nest and preparing for the arrival of their family.

There is a  major effort being put out by environmental groups to keep the oil from making the shorelines of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. It could possibly not work. They are considering asking the US Military for help controlling the spill.

Not only are the birds at risk with the oil spill. The entire ecosystem is in danger of being damaged with oil. As the oil settles in the water, it will cover the basin which means  the oysters will be smothered with it and die.

The whole business of fishing will be affected by the spill.

The high content of ash and debris found in the cloud of the erupting volcano in Iceland has stalled air traffic throughout Europe.

The  huge cloud has caused more air traffic similar to the problems after 911. Passengers are awaiting news that their planes will be taking off, hoping to be returning home or going to their destinations soon.

There is concern  that air traffic will be disrupted for yet another few days to allow the skies to become safe again.

In London, usually one of the busiest airports in the world having most the time over 1200 flights containing 180,000 passengers per day, canceled all fights.

Approximately 700 people had to be relocated that live near the volcano. There was fear of high water and floating icebergs. There is also a fear that roads are being damaged and as are other structures.

The ash in the cloud is at anywhere from 20,000  to 36,000 feet in the air. If an airplane tried flying through it, the ash could get sucked into the engines, clogging them and causing them to shut down.

Many plans  have been changed or are being affected by the eruption and the canceled flights.
