French protesters burned 317 cars and wounded 13 police officers during street violence on the eve of the Bastille Day national holiday, officials have said.

As French troops made last-minute preparations for the July 14 parade on the Champs Elysees in Paris, the suburbs of major cities were contemplating another clean-up operation.

By 4am GMT, police headquarters in Paris had recorded 317 burnt out cars – up 6.7% on 2008 – and 240 arrests – almost double the total for the same period last year,These numbers were expected to increase as fresh reports came in.

The injured officers were mainly suffering from hearing difficulties after being targeted by youths throwing fireworks and small-scale home-made explosives.

Some protesters had clashed with riot police in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil. The demonstrators were venting anger over police tactics used to remove people from a squat.

But, shortly after 5pm GMT, clashes erupted and tear gas was aimed at those who argued with officers.

Montreuil mayor Dominique Voynet said the degree of police intervention was disproportionate.

“The violence used to expel the people from the protest was completely not worth it,” she said.

Joachim Gatti, 34, reportedly lost an eye after being hit with a flash-ball used by police during an expulsion of people from squats in the area on July 8.

France marks Bastille Day as the anniversary of July 14, 1789, when a mob stormed the Parisian prison and set in motion the events that would lead to the overthrow of the monarchy.

Nowadays, youths from bleak housing projects around cities use it to express their frustration with high unemployment rates and what they see as France’s failure to integrate ethnic minorities.

    Iranian Air Crash
    Iranian Air Crash
On Wednesday,  yet another plane went down. This one an Iranian plane that dove onto the ground and decomposed upon impact. There was stuff from the airplane scattered around the wreckage.

Pictures of the wreckage showed a smoking hole in the  ground with burnt parts of the airplane and personal articles.

168 riders and the crew on the plane perished in the crash. On board the Caspian Airlines Plane were 8 team participants of Iran’s young judo team and two of their coaches.

The plane suddendly fell from the sky and blew up when it hit the ground causing a huge hole in the ground.

As of this time the airplanes black box hasn’t been found which will hopefully give some reason for this disaster.

There have been approximately 5 airplanes go down so far this year killing numerous on board. Even with the number of air traffic accidents, air travel  is still considered a safe way to travel according to John Wiley  an air travel safety expert. So far no certain airline is being considered particularly life-threatening.

All the last three accidents have been assorted types of airplanes, flown by various airlines and were in different areas of their flight plans. There is no connection to be found. The number that perished in these accidents were 548.

The last plane, Caspian Airlines Flight 7908 fell to the ground in the area of Jannatabad which is close to Qavin on Wednesday at 11:23am.

The plane came down rather fast, according to Wiley, but it is thought that it may have been circling trying to land. Some witnesses said the plane was on fire before hitting the ground.

The Caspian aircraft was made in Russia. It was a Tupolev Tu-154m aircraft. This airplane has been banished from the West because it did not follow the sound and contamination regulations of the Europeans. Not for lack of safety for passengers.

This crash it the only one now recorded for the Caspian Airlines which got it’s start in 1993.

The plane was in route from Tehran to Yerevan, Armenia. It crashed 16 minutes after it took off.

There is a group from Russian Interstate Avaition Committee heading to the wreckage to help out with the probe of the accident. The will be working along with Iranian investigators trying to learn what caused this disaster.
