DroughtWith parts of USA experiencing abundance rainfall, Georgia was the exception. Georgia officials have expressed concern over low water levels in lakes and streams, with northern areas of the state being the worst. The state has since announced a complete ban on all outdoor watering activities, after nearly a third of the state has been classified as moderately drought. In addition, restriction measures were imposed to further conserve this scarce resource.

Authorities are now in fear that available water sources, such as lakes and reservoirs, might not fully recover with average rainfall amounts in coming winter. Lake Lanier is among the top most concern, since it is main water supply for the whole of Atlanta region.
